How it Works

FlowScience technology produces an electrically generated surface catalytic effect that initiates the formation of microscopic seed crystals, clusters of calcium carbonite and other mineral components. These seed crystals and clusters prevent the formation of hard mineral scale on equipment surfaces.

The technology itself will inhibit the formation of new scale and, in the majority of cases, it will loosen or eliminate existing scale deposits from process piping, pumps, and other equipment throughout the system.

BIO-REACTOR SMBR

PROJECT SUMMARY:

Bio-reactors are a high impact, scale-able, cost-effective option for sustainable leachate treatment.  Offering many advantages to other technologies the SMBR faces challenges with uninterrupted biological growth due to leachate scaling of suspended media.  Once media is scaled, replacement and shut down cleaning is costly.  A solution was needed.

MSW WASTE-WATER TREATMENT FACILTY

PROJECT SUMMARY:

The MSW Leachate Treatment Facility was looking for a solution to replacing chemical addition and manual scale formation removal.  Chemistry conditions fluctuated and shut-downs were time consuming and challenging.  Compliance was sometimes an issue with theories as to the cause.

The addition of FlowScience LSC Systems in several locations and with custom set-ups would become the more permanent solution improving the conditions exponentially and reducing costs to the operation.

Flowscience today treats the entire facility.

Struvite Formation Tale Tell Signs

• High pH is a warning for the potential struvite formation
• High conductivity increases the potential for struvite formation
• Low temperatures foster the environment for struvite formation
• Higher concentrations of ammonium, phosphate and magnesium enable struvite precipitation

Rough surface areas are one of the first areas to look for Struvite formation, when Struvite crystal rock is not 100% removed from the different surfaces, the remaining rough edges will form struvite more quickly.
